Montana Special Needs Equal Opportunity Education Savings Account provides reimbursement funding ($5,000-$8,000) for students with IDEA disabilities to access private school, homeschool, tutoring, therapies, and educational materials. Administered by Montana Office of Public Instruction through reimbursement system.

π How to Apply
1. Verify student eligibility: IEP with IDEA disability, ages 5-19 (as of Sept 10), Montana resident, counted for ANB funding previous year. 2. Review Parent Handbook and Allowable Expenses list on OPI website. 3. During application window (May 1-June 1 OR Nov 1-Dec 1), access online application at opi.mt.gov ESA page OR request paper application. 4. Gather required documents: IEP documentation, proof of Montana residency, student birth certificate, ANB funding verification. 5. Complete and submit application during window. 6. If approved, receive ESA account notification. 7. Purchase approved educational expenses. 8. Submit receipts via Reimbursement Request Form to OPIESA@mt.gov. 9. Receive reimbursement after OPI review.

π Academic Requirements
No standardized testing mandate. Parents responsible for ensuring educational progress aligned with IEP goals.
Cannot be enrolled full-time in Montana public school, Montana School for Deaf and Blind, or juvenile corrections facility while receiving ESA
Progress tracked through IEP goals and parent documentation
Submit all receipts for purchased educational expenses via Reimbursement Request Form. Notify OPI immediately if student re-enrolls in public school. Maintain records of educational activities and purchases. Review Parent Handbook for approved/non-approved items before purchasing. Final amount reduced 5% for administrative costs.
Reapply during next application window (May 1-June 1 OR Nov 1-Dec 1). Student must continue meeting eligibility requirements: maintain IEP with IDEA disability, remain Montana resident ages 5-19, not be enrolled full-time in public school.
